Payment Failures and Account Access

If a renewal payment fails, your account isn't locked and nothing is deleted. Here's what happens and how to fix it.

What happens when a payment fails

  1. Stripe tries to charge your card on your renewal date.
  2. If it fails, TinyX emails you (from noreply@updates.tinyx.co, subject line starting "Payment failed") with a link to update your payment method.
  3. You keep your current plan while Stripe retries. Stripe retries the charge automatically according to its retry schedule.
  4. If the retries don't succeed, Stripe ends the subscription and your account moves to the Free plan.

You can still sign in the whole time, and your links, files and data stay in place. After a move to Free, Free plan limits apply, including 7 days of analytics history.

How to fix a failed payment

  1. Open Billing in your TinyX dashboard
  2. Click Manage Subscription to open the Stripe portal
  3. Add a working card or update your existing one
  4. If an invoice is still open, you can pay it from the portal right away instead of waiting for the next retry

Common reasons payments fail

Expired card: the most common cause. Update it in the portal.

Insufficient funds or a bank decline: try another card or contact your bank.

Online or international charges blocked: some banks block these by default. Contact your bank.

Extra authentication (3D Secure) needed: your bank may ask you to approve the charge in its app.

Replaced card: if your bank issued a new card number, update it in the portal.

If you've already moved to Free

  1. Open Billing
  2. Choose Monthly or Annual and subscribe to Pro or Max
  3. Complete Stripe checkout with a working card

Your plan is active again as soon as checkout completes, and everything you kept on your account is still there.

Common questions

Will I be charged immediately when I resubscribe? Yes. Resubscribing starts a new subscription, charged at checkout.

Can I pause my subscription? No. You can cancel and subscribe again later; your account and data stay.

My payment went through but my plan still shows Free. Your plan updates as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, which is usually instant, and TinyX double-checks with Stripe when you return from checkout. If it still shows Free after a few minutes, email support@tinyx.co.

Still stuck? Email support@tinyx.co and a real person will reply.
